The Carter
County Assessor’s office has prepared this web site for your
information and to answer some of the most commonly asked questions
about Ad Valorem property taxes.
The Ad Valorem tax
code was placed in the constitution at the beginning of statehood
with changes being made over the years by a vote of the people .
Revenues from Ad Valorem taxes support our local schools, county
government, city, health, law enforcement, social services and
libraries.
Fairness plays a big role in assessing
property. In the Carter County Assessor’s office my staff and I
strive very hard to make sure this is done.
